“There was still no decision on a use variance application for a community solar project proposed in the town of Amsterdam this week, but the review by the Zoning Board of Appeals is finally progressing.
The ZBA discussed potential impacts from the solar project proposed by Amp Solar Development at 260 Truax Road while reviewing assessments required under State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) on Wednesday.
Amp is seeking a variance to construct a five megawatt community solar project on “abandoned” farmland owned by Arthur and Alyce Banewicz in a residential zoning district where utility-scale solar projects are prohibited by town law.”
