“DUANESBURG – Several public hearings on plans to replace or modernize the high-voltage power lines through the Mohawk Valley between Marcy and New Scotland will be held next week, the state Public Service Commission announced.
Applicants LS Power Grid New York LLC and the New York Power Authority have applied to construct new 345-kilovolt power lines in the existing 345-kv corridor, which runs 93 miles through the Mohawk Valley, including the length of Montgomery County and parts of Duanesburg, Rotterdam and Princetown in Schenectady County. A new substation is to be constructed in Princetown, and the existing Rotterdam substation replaced.
These are the first public hearings on the plans, which have been in development for several years and were formally filed with the Public Service Commission in November. LS Power Grid New York was selected last year as the private developer to partner with the state Power Authority on the project.”
