“The Zoning Board of Appeals has directed the town of Amsterdam’s consulting land use attorney to draft a resolution to deny the use variance for a community solar project in a residential area to consider in September. The board signaled on Wednesday that it intends to reject the application based on its apparent failure to meet any of the standards required to issue a use variance.
Amp Solar Development is seeking a variance to construct a five-megawatt community solar project at 260 Truax Road owned by Arthur and Alyce Banewicz. The project would span about 25 acres out of the 58.4-acre parcel in a residential zoning district where utility-scale solar installations are prohibited.”
