“A community-based solar company informally presented its idea to build two facilities in the town of Glen, even though the township has yet to approve their proposed solar regulations.
Chairman of the Glen Planning Board Timothy Reilly told his board members at a Thursday meeting representatives of Eden Renewables were giving an informal presentation for their two proposed projects and a site plan application has not been applied for yet. Representatives of the company discussed with the planning board their proposed projects for the township and how their company operates. Town Supervisor John Thomas and Reilly first learned of the projects during an informal discussion with the company in June and this is the second time they have met with Eden Renewables.

Currently, the planning board and town board are working on approving their own solar legislation. The planning board sent their final draft of their proposed solar laws to the town board in May and the town board plans to go through the State Environmental Quality Review Act with the guidance of a SEQR lawyer for the proposed solar legislation. The creation of solar energy laws for the commercial use of solar systems would allow for the systems’ permitted use in the Glen Canal View Business Park, although the park would first need to be rezoned. Currently, solar facilities can be built in the town with a special use permit, according to Reilly.”
