As soon as possible request that your town adopt a moratorium on solar, wind and battery energy facilities.
DRAFT REQUEST
A moratorium on solar arrays and a moratorium on battery storage are requested based upon New York States energy policy as well as the energy industry actions to site acres upon acres of solar, wind and battery energy storage facilities across rural New York.
The towns of Esperance, Root, Rotterdam, Schoharie, Middleburg, Duanesburg have used moratoriums to provide the town and taxpayers time to review their energy laws, uphold their Comprehensive Plan and protect the town and taxpayers.
Our town must act now to update our laws to meet current industry practices and technology. The taxpayers should not suffer diminished use, enjoyment and future development of their lands.
We respectfully request that existing energy facilities that are not yet approved are included in the moratorium. The town of Rotterdam included East Light Partners Rotterdam Solar LLC faciity in their moratorium. To our knowledge ELP has not challenged the town on this document.
