“Residents will be able to voice their concerns Thursday on a proposed ordinance that would regulate large-scale solar arrays after town lawmakers recently agreed to extend a public hearing in order to gain additional input and look into concerns raised.
Around a dozen residents attended the Jan. 26 hearing to ask questions about a proposed solar law the town introduced earlier following a months-long moratorium on the construction of solar arrays. The Town Board enacted the moratorium in order to update its regulations that date back to 2016.
Most in attendance asked questions about specific topics addressed in the law, including stormwater runoff and the positioning of panels on farmland, but others requested minor tweaks and raised questions about well-water contamination. Residents will be able to provide additional input at the next Town Board meeting when the hearing is reopened. “
