COMMUNITY SOLAR COMPANY EYEING GLEN LAND

June 24, 2019 by l

“Representatives of Eden Renewables, a solar energy company, met with Glen Supervisor John Thomas, Town Board member Russell Kelly Jr., and Timothy Reilly, the chairman of the Glen planning board, for an informal discussion about the proposed project on Monday morning.

Eden Renewables is looking to build two community solar energy facilities, with each located on a 35 acre parcel of land on VanEpps Road.

Thomas asked Giovanni Maruca, chief development officer of Eden Renewables, if the parcels of land are owned by two separate people. Maruca said there are two different landowners and the solar company will purchase one of the properties, while leasing the other.

“I am a strong supporter of renewable energy,” Thomas said. “Whether it’s geothermal…wind turbines. It’s where we need to be to reduce our carbon footprint. I am speaking personally. I think the planning board and the town board also supports renewable energy.”

Eden Renewables has not made a presentation in front of the planning board with a site plan application.

Company representatives said Monday they wanted to begin discussions with town officials regarding what the proposed project entails — and to see where the town stands”
