“While it’s not exactly the sunshine Bill Reed hoped for, the weekend forecast for the region doesn’t include much snow for this rural Schenectady County community, belted by an area-high two feet of snow over the past few days.
“This has been the storm from hell,” said the Duanesburg Highway Superintendent Thursday from inside his office on Western Turnpike, recalling how the storm began late Tuesday night with freezing mist, then switched entirely to snow. “It was just a long and gruelling process.”
Outside, the weight of the snow arched some trees perilously close to the road on slick side streets, including Turnbull and Knight roads that seemed to be transformed into a winter not-so-wonderland.
As of Thursday, more than a half-dozen roads remained partially closed because of downed trees and limbs. Reed said Tidball Road in an outlying part of town would likely be shut down for four or more days until crews could got there to clean up.”
