“Lt. Tim Munro of the state police said the big break in the case came when local media showed footage of construction equipment stolen from Colonie last week. Police received about 40 phone calls after the footage was shown and Tenace and Ashdown quickly became suspects, Munro said.
After the two were arrested for selling the snowmobile that was stolen from the Boat & R.V. Warehouse in Clifton Park, police executed search warrants at garages in Scotia and Duanesburg where police found numerous stolen items, Munro said.
The Scotia garage was rented by Tenace, Munro said, while the Duanesburg garage was owned by Boice Smith of Delanson.
Police also searched Smith’s home and the under-construction Mechanicville home of Thomas Galentino on Route 9. Police found stolen property at both homes, Munro said. Munro said police took out various items installed in the house such as a bathtub and furnace which they said were stolen.
Neither Smith nor Galentino has been charged but Albany District Attorney Paul Clyne said charges are possible. He said police are investigating whether the two men knew the property was stolen.
Saratoga Springs Police Chief Edward Moore said Tenace and Ashdown stole equipment and material from four locations in the city, including Gelenite Construction, Russo Construction, a construction site at Springwood Condominiums and a utility trailer parked in the Prime Hotel parking lot.”
