“The names of the two 17-year-olds were not provided. One was charged with aggravated harassment, criminal mischief and petit larceny and the other with criminal mischief and petit larceny.
The vandalism was reported on May 30 by the stewardship coordinator for the Nature Conservancy, which owns the 120-acre preserve. The walls of a lean-to by the gorge were spraypainted and numerous holes punctured the metal roof.
Police said information received from the community and a lengthy investigation resulted in the arrests. The teens were released and are due to appear in the Duanesburg Town Court.
The damage caused the closing of the preserve, a Registered National Historic Landmark listed by the New York State Historic Trust, for several days.”
