“Doreen E. Casper Delanson – Doreen E. Casper, 62 passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
Born in Schenectady, NY, one of two sets of twins, she was the beloved daughter of the late Donald and Joan Garling. Doreen was a graduate of Draper High School before working at the Department of EnCon out of high school. After starting her family, Doreen worked from home as a medical transcriptionist while raising her three children. Her most cherished title was Mom. She later worked as a medical receptionist at Five Corners Family Practice until she retired to become a full-time Mema to her grandson, Max.
Born and raised in Rotterdam, Doreen and Paul moved to Duanesburg and built their dream home overlooking one the most beautiful views in Duanesburg. Doreen had a great love for all animals, and always dreamt of filling their land with as many animals as she could get away with, and that’s exactly what she did. She was a prominent figure at Quaker Street Bible Church where she served as a deaconess, Sunday School teacher, and secretary on the church board, making lifelong friends.
Doreen and Paul could always be found supporting their children wherever they were. Doreen was the first to sign up for field trips, classroom mom duties, carpooling kids and all of their friends, running the Little League concession stand, musicals, and sporting events all over the east coast. Doreen loved summer nights; hosting bonfires, stargazing, listening to peepers, watching fireflies and oftentimes could be found on her front porch viewing the sunsets.
Doreen’s family was her whole world, and she was happiest with a house full of her people, cooking amazing meals, and sitting around the kitchen table or outside with her funny farm. A cancer survivor at 28 yrs old, she fully understood that every day was a gift. She was a prayer warrior and cherished her time with her Bible study friends. Doreen’s faith was her guiding path through her whole life and sharing it with those she loved was of most importance to her. If you knew Doreen, she became a fast friend, the first one to offer you a hug that made you feel seen, a prayer and a tight handhold. She had a beautiful way with words and was always sending a note if she thought of you. Her kind heart left such a positive force on all of us. Her unconditional love was a true gift.
Doreen is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Paul Casper; her cherished children Rachel (Nicholas) Pieniazek, Aaron Casper, Elijah Casper, and her grandson Max Pieniazek. She is survived by her mother in law, Anne Casper, sisters Laurie Garling, Linda Garling, and her twin sister, Debra (Mark) Kazmierczak; nieces and nephews, great nieces & great nephews, several cousins, and many lifelong, dear friends.
The Casper family would like to thank the wonderful medical staff at Capital Cardiology Associates, especially Dr. Stahura and Dr. Pashkovetsky.
