“When Christina Miller and her husband purchased their home along Duane Lake a decade ago, they had the property’s septic system inspected to ensure its functionality.
Everything seemed fine until a few months later, when a hired contractor noticed a “black goop” emerging from the ground. The septic system the Millers just had inspected failed, a surprising, but not unheard of development along the lake.
“The way our septic was so-called inspected was the guy that pumped it stuck his head down the hole with a flashlight and said, ‘Oh, it looks fine.’ That was it,” Miller said. “I understand from a couple of the neighbors the same thing happened to them.””
