” It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Watt announces her passing on September 6, 2024, at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her loving husband James Watt and will be remembered by her two children, Randall Grady and wife Tracey Cain and Victoria Grady as well as her two grandsons, Jacob Grady and Caleb Grady and his fiancée Molly Korest.
Barbara was born in Yonkers NY to her parents, Paul Mosher and Dorothy (Thompson) Mosher on December 5, 1935. She attended Walton High School in the Bronx and worked at an insurance company as a young adult. Her mother and brothers, Bruce, Garry and Ronny spent their summers in Burtonsville, on a property fondly referred to as “The Farm”. She later moved to Delanson where she met Jim, and the two were married October 2, 1978. She worked for Schoharie Social Services as a case worker, helping the community for 28 years, while raising her family.
She had many other interests, including the fact that Barbara was an EMT and served as an officer of the Quaker Street Fire Department for 50 years.
Barbara was heavily involved in politics, and she served as the Republican Chair for the Duanesburg Republican Committee, and also served on the Executive Committee for the Schenectady County Republican Committee. Barb served the President of the Schenectady County Republican Women’s Club, where they welcomed guest speakers once a month.
She was Treasurer for the Western Hills Garden Club, who tended the gardens for the Quaker Street Library and Duanesburg Shafer Park, to name a few.
She was the Christian Education Director for Quaker Street Bible Church for over 30 years. She aided with the after-school Release Time and headed the vacation Bible School every summer. She helped arrange the décor for most of the church functions and joked that she never stepped foot in the kitchen!
Serving others was her life mission, but her greatest joy was her family. She loved to wrestle with her grandchildren and play pirates in the back yard and she was incredibly proud of the men they have become. Barbara always raved about her son, and her daughter was usually two steps behind her at every event. She had many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and will be missed by each one.
Above all she was a woman of great faith. Her love for the Lord trumped all else and her service to her community exemplified her caring heart.
A celebration of Life will be held from 11 to 1:30 on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Max410 at The Waters Edge, 2 Freemans Bridge Rd, Glenville, New York 12302, and all are welcome to attend.
Please make any charitable donations in her honor to Pedal the Cause, 9288 Dielman Industrial Drive, St. Louis, MO 63132, a non-profit advancing cancer research, and/or the Quaker Street Fire Department, 10136 Duanesburg Rd., Delanson, NY 12053.”
