“The parents of two state troopers were killed in Duanesburg and a sibling is in custody, according to law enforcement officials familiar with the case. Several officials aware of the investigation said the victims were killed with a semi-automatic weapon.A 19-year-old man was in custody Tuesday afternoon at the State Police barracks in Duanesburg, an official said. The man was apprehended after Schenectady County sheriff’s deputies followed a car into Schenectady, where the man was taken into custody at about 2 p.m. outside the city’s police station at 531 Liberty St.
Police were waiting for a judge to sign a warrant so investigators can search a Schenectady home for evidence. Police had the home cordoned off.
State Police and sheriff’s deputies were also at an address on Reynolds Road in Duanesburg. While the structure is not visible from the road, police vehicles can be seen coming in and out of the driveway.
A neighbor who knows the residents at the Reynolds Road home declined to speak with a reporter beyond saying they were “very sweet people.”
By 3:40 p.m., several of the police cars appeared to be leaving the scene.”
