“BettyLou Nissen, 75, formerly of Skyline Drive in Delanson, NY passed away Monday, May 16th, 2022 in Holland, Michigan where she had moved to be closer to family.
BettyLou was born March 1, 1947 in Cobleskill, NY a daughter of Harry M. and Elizabeth (Eckerson) Baker. She is a 1965 graduate of the former Cobleskill High School and later, received an associate’s degree from Alfred Ag & Tech. She devoted her life to raising a family and providing a stable home for her husband and 2 children in Delanson. She and her husband were proud of the award winning solar home they built from ’79 to ’80. BettyLou enjoyed her over 40 year membership in the Danish Sisterhood of America, Schenectady Lodge #142. She also served as a 4-H leader for many years, volunteered with Guiding Eyes for the Blind, and was a member of the Duanesburg Reformed Presbyterian Church.
She married Glen Nissen on September 3, 1967. He predeceased her on April 5, 2019. Survivors include her children; Frank (Amanda) Nissen of Troy, NY and Eva Marie (Wade) Gugino of Holland, Michigan, 5 grandchildren; Harrison, Linus, Jasper, Esmeralda, and Francesca, her sister; Sally Ann Anderson of Central Bridge and 3 nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 11 a.m. from the Duanesburg Reformed Presbyterian Church, US Route #20, Duanesburg with inurnment next to her husband in the Grosvenor’s Corners Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Nissen to Danish Sisterhood of America, Linda Brooks, Treasurer, 8402 Winter Berry Drive, Castle Pines, CO 80108.
