Another solar developer impacted by the town’s recently updated solar regulations plans to seek a variance from the Zoning Board of Appeals, Schwenzfeier informed the Planning Board.
Schwenzfeier reportedly met with representatives of Amp Energy who plan to propose a solar project on the former Knickerbocker farm property on Knickerbocker Road.
John Knickerbocker had spoken out against the town’s intended zoning updates last spring over his family’s plans to install a solar project on the nearly 100 acre property. He argued the site was well suited to solar projects that could help generate clean, low cost energy without impacting neighbors.
However, the property is located in a residential zoning district, meaning the solar project is not allowed at the site. No applications for the project were filed before the town implemented the moratorium and subsequent zoning updates.”
