Police: Esperance man beat and robbed a one-armed, 68-year-old man

October 10, 2012 by l

“A Esperance man was arrested after police say he assaulted and robbed a 68-year-old, one-armed man at a Stewart’s Shop Sunday morning. Justin R. Annis, 31, of Burtonsville road was charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree assault, both felonies. State Troopers investigated the incident Sunday morning at the gas station, finding Aniss’s alleged victim with bruises on his face and head. Police report Annis allegedly punched him several times and took $30 from his wallet. A customer at the Stewart’s took down Annis’s license plate. Troopers went to Annis’s house and allegedly discovered marijuana plants and marijuana and they say Annis fled into the woods. At that point, his brother Joseph S. Annis, 33, of Putnam Road in Schenectady was charged with unlawfully growing marijuana, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was issued an appearance ticket. Police searched the area and interviewed Annis’s friends and family. The next night, Annis turned himself in. He was arraigned and remanded to Schenectady County jail in lieu of $15,000 cash or $30,000 bail bond. He is due back in Duanesburg Town Court at 4 p.m. Oct. 11.”
