“Mary Margaret Romani (Cooke), 61, of Davenport, Florida, York, Maine and formerly of Delanson, NY, died on Tuesday at York Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Schenectady, Mary was a 1960 graduate of Draper High School. She worked as a secretary and clerk for over 36 years, retiring in 1996 from the NYS Department of Transportation. Mary was past president of the Clan McRae, a member of the Quaker Street Fire Department and Ambulance Squad, a teacher with Women on the Move, a former Girl Scout leader and coach with the Rotterdam Girls Softball League. She was also an avid bowler and a former member of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Mary is survived by her husband, Alfred V. Romani; five brothers, Craig M. Cooke (Terri) of Old Saybrook, CN, William J. Cooke (Christine), Paul J. Cooke (Michele), Stephen J. Cooke (Yvonne), all of Rotterdam, and Peter J. Cooke (Julie) of Overland Park, KS; three sisters, Ann Sellie (Peter) of Delanson, Michelle Schlomberg (William) and Christine Gallup (David), both of Scotia; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and her pet Dachshund, Kiki.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 8:15 a.m. at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY, followed at 9 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Bradt Street, Schenectady where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 to 9.
Entombment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
