“Fire ripped through a Schoonmaker Road residence in Delanson late Saturday evening, leveling the structure and drawing firefighters from nine companies to battle the blaze.
Quaker Street Fire Chief James Yauchler said their were no injuries during the blaze, which broke out shortly after 10 p.m.
He said the fire was fully involved when crews arrived on the scene and was large enough to be visible from the neighboring town of Esperance in Schoharie County.
Efforts to extinguish the blaze were hampered by the residence’s long driveway and remote location. Yauchler said crews spent more than four hours battling the fire, which collapsed the structure.
“Unfortunately, when you have to travel so far to get to to get the scene and then you have to get water, its kind of difficult,” he said.”
