“Charlotte (Miller) Canastra, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home.
Born in Yonkers, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Louis Miller and Marie (Pandelfo) Birdsall. Charlotte lived most of her life in Duanesburg. She worked as an operator for the former N.Y. Telephone and later retired as a branch manager from Bank of America. Charlotte enjoyed restoring antiques, gardening, and spending time with her family. Charlotte enjoyed traveling and her second home in Florida, and having her family and friends visit over the years.
Wife of the late Richard Canastra; mother of Richard E. (Kristen) Canastra Jr., Jeffrey (Sandra) Canastra, and Brian Canastra; sister of Eleanor (Donald) Largeteau, Lois “Cookie” (Skip) Aierle, Stephen Miller, and the late Paul Miller, and Elizabeth McDougall; grandmother of Jeffrey Jr., Mathew, Melissa, Brian Jr., and Bianca Canastra. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held Monday, April 29, 2024, at noon, in the White-VanBuren Funeral Home, 1779 Main St., Delanson. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with her family prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to noon, in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405 Albany, N.Y. 12205, or consider planting a tree in Charlotte’s memory.”
