“Sally E. Burns, 69, the beloved wife of Thomas R. Burns, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2023, in the comfort of their home.
Born in Frankfort, N.Y., Sally was the daughter of Charles and JaneAnne Nipe. She was a 1972 graduate of Clinton High School and Keuka College in 1976. She served as trustee and two-term mayor of the Village of Delanson and was a lifelong member of DAR and PEO. She was an accomplished cook, hostess, and gardener as well as an extraordinary friend and mentor to many. The family camp at Piseco Lake held a special place in her heart.
In addition to Tom and Peggy, her loyal Bassett companion, Sally is survived by her beloved family, brother, Charles “Kip” (Debbie) Nipe; sister-in-law, Rebecca (Todd) Kane; nieces and nephews, Adam (Jessica) Nipe, Krista (Josh) Martin, Becky (John) Myers and Dylan Kane, as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews and countless friends.
Special thanks to the staff of St. Peter’s Hospital for their loving care of Sally.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Sally’s family and friends on Friday, August 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany. Her funeral service will then follow at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Keuka College or St. Peter’s Hospital.
