Obituary: Shirley J. Bliss

“Shirley J. Bliss, 91, of Rotterdam passed away at home on Friday May 19, 2023 with her daughters by her side.

Born at Vale Cemetery in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas Werner and Dorothy Ragan. She was a graduate of Draper High School and later earned her realtor license. Shirley was employed as a realtor/broker for Coldwell Banker.

Shirley was involved as a member of the Women’s Council of Realtors, Princetown Senior Citizens, and the President of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW James Duane Post 2303 of Delanson. She was also a member of Christ Church of the Hill

Predeceased by her son Nickolaus Rocchio, Shirley is survived by her daughters Gail Gilchriest(Late Timothy), Sherry Rocchio, Linda Loika(Brian), her daughter in law Donna, her grandson and caregiver Nathan Loika, and five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday May 23, 2023 from 10-11 a.m. at the Bond Funeral Home 1614 Guilderland Avenue Schenectady. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 11 a.m.

Burial will take place at Esperance Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Shirley’s memory to the Community Hospice Community Hospice | Make a donation to support our work.”
