Obituary: Frances Griessler

May 14, 2023 by l

“Frances Griessler, 82, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023.

Fran was born in Peckville, PA to her parents, the late Frank Wilk and Antoinette Jendzeizyk Wilk.

She graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady and went on to earn her associate’s degree.

Fran began her career as a secretary with the New York State Assembly and later at The General Electric Co. before leaving to raise her family and work on the family farm. For a time, Fran provided child care for close friends and family out of her home and eventually began caring for her grandchildren as they came along.

Fran enjoyed traveling with the GE Women’s Club in her younger years. She was an excellent gardener and cook, often canning the fruits of her labors to share with family and friends. Fran was a wonderful hostess, always putting on memorable family celebrations.

Fran is survived by her husband of 52 years, William Griessler; her children, Elaine Griessler (Kyle James) and Christine Griessler; her stepdaughter Gail Griessler, and her beloved grandchildren, George and Justin Pannitto, Sara Pring, Kayla Griessler, Marisa James and Callie Lennon.

Besides her parents, Fran was predeceased by her stepchildren, Nancy Pannitto and David Griessler and her brother, Eugene Wilk.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 20, from 9:30 a.m.to 11:30 a.m. at the White-VanBuren Funeral Home, 1779 Main St., Delanson. A memorial service will begin at 11:30am. Fran will be laid to rest at Grove Cemetery on Quaker Street.

Because of Fran’s love of animals, please consider donations in her name to the Schoharie Co. Animal Shelter, 304 Howe Cave Rd, Howes Cave, NY 12092.”
