“on May 1, 2023. Born on May 9, 1957, in Duanesburg, NY, Barb was the daughter of the late William Otto and Ruth (Aleschius) Haege.
She was a 1975 graduate of Duanesburg High School and went on to have a 12-year career with Schenectady County. However, once she became a mother, she knew there was nothing more rewarding than caring for her children. Barb was a devoted mother and proud Yaya, who always put her family first. Her love and dedication to her family were evident in everything she did, making her the rock of her family. As Yaya, she had the most special bond with her granddaughter.
Being with loved ones was the most important aspect of Barb’s life. She enjoyed family gatherings and having everyone around during the holidays. Her favorite place was the beach, where she created fond memories in New Hampshire, Maine, Cape May, and visiting family in New Jersey. Barb was adamant about visiting lighthouses during these special trips, a testament to her love for the ocean and its beauty. She found great pride in maintaining her gardens and home of 38 years.
Barb had a sweet tooth and would never pass on chocolate! Her love for sweets was only surpassed by her love for her family, friends, and pets. Her gentle nature and selfless spirit endeared her to everyone she met, making her a cherished presence in the lives of those who knew her.
In remembrance of Barb’s life, her family invites you to celebrate her love for animals by donating to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave, Schenectady, NY 12302.
Barb was predeceased by her loving parents and sister-in-law, Kathy Haege. She is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Dean Lee Pitt; children, Meagan (Matthew) Bartlett and Bryan Pitt (Chanel Peterson); and cherished grand-daughter, Waverly Wren Bartlett; her brothers, William Haege and Ronald Haege (Nancy Maxwell); as well as her dear friend and sister-in-law, Lucinda Lawyer.
