“Stephen C. Thayer, 90, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. Stephen was born on July 19, 1931, in Holden, Mass. to Paul E. Thayer of Grey, Maine and Virginia Smalley Thayer of Dover, N.H. He grew up in Worcester, Mass. and graduated from the University of New Hampshire (Durham) in 1953 with a B.S. and in 1958 with a M.S., both in poultry science. Stephen attended UNH through ROTC, serving in the U.S. Army from 1954-56 at the rank of first lieutenant. He was a long-time resident of Duanesburg. While Stephen began his career with Beacon Feeds Company, he worked as a biologist for Sterling Winthrop Research Institute in Rensselaer from 1963 until 1993, retiring when the institute closed.”
