Obituary: JENNIFER BARRY

May 5, 2022 by l

“Barry, Jennifer E. BETHLEHEM Jennifer E. Barry, 39, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 2, 2022. Jennifer was born in Albany to her parents, Kirsten (Visker) Barry and the late John Barry. She graduated from Duanesburg High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from SUNY Albany and master’s degree in social work from Fordham University. A lifelong learner and avid reader, Jen would have been a student for the rest of her life if she could and had plans to earn her Ph.D. Jennifer was a licensed clinical social worker and worked at various agencies throughout the Capital Region, most recently owning her own practice in Guilderland. Jen thrived in environments where she was able to help others, something at which she excelled. Her children, Makenzie and Kiernan, were the center of her world. In her spare time, together with her kids, she enjoyed watching competitive cooking shows, going to local fairs, festivals and amusement parks. Jen was a lively and energetic person full of strength, even in the face of adversity. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew her. She leaves behind her beloved children, Makenzie Pratt and Kiernan Pratt; her mother, Kirsten Barry; her maternal grandmother, Mary Clare Visker; her siblings, Abby Ruscitto (Ryan) and Bobby Barry (Marianna); her nieces and nephews, Stella and Celia Ruscitto and John, Maddy, Jake and Jordan Barry as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Calling hours will take place on Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Open Arms Church, 2714 Curry Rd, Schenectady. A service will follow, beginning at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jennifer’s name may be made to a fund to benefit her children at https://gofund.me/30c98f79.
