“The Town Board will go back to the negotiating table with Eden Renewables in an attempt to come to terms on payment in lieu of tax agreements for a pair of solar projects the developer will erect in the town.
The Planning Board in February 2020 approved special use permit and site plan applications from Eden for the Van Epps and Mohawk View community solar projects. The projects will be located on adjacent properties on Van Epps Road between Route 30A and Route 114.
The Mohawk View project will be located on a 50-acre lot while the Van Epps project will be located on a 59-acre lot. The actual footprint of each project will be similar, with fenced in areas of 34-acres and 36-acres around the respective solar installations. Each project will produce approximately 5-megawatts of solar energy, enough to power about 2,450 homes a piece.
Eden indicated last year that project construction would commence within about 24 months of the approvals. The Town Board began working to establish PILOT agreements on each of the projects with the developer earlier this year.”
