“A deal that could see mile-long Norfolk Southern trains traveling through Voorheesville and other Albany County communities is on hold for now.
The federal Surface Transportation Board on Wednesday rejected CSX Transportation’s application to acquire Pan Am Southern and affiliated rail lines and sent it back to the applicants for more supporting data.
Part of the deal involved giving Norfolk Southern the right to operate two trains a day over a currently dormant rail line that runs along Prospect Street to South Main Street in Voorheesville, where it connects with the CSX mainline. The trains — one each way daily — would be limited in length to 9,000 feet, plus locomotives.”
