“Erin Rightmyer’s report came in at 7:27 a.m. Saturday to the Albany Running Exchange’s Facebook page.
“FYI there’s a big bear on the rail trail near the [Veterans of Foreign Wars] in Delmar,” Rightmyer wrote, adding a smartphone photo of what appeared to be a black bear roughly 24 feet down the trail. The animal’s pose gave the appearance of an early morning walk. Rightmyer realized later that the sighting was a little further east, just before the American Legion post off Elsmere Avenue.”
