“The Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority today announced that Distributed Solar Development will locate the company’s new corporate headquarters at Mohawk Harbor, Schenectady’s live-work-play waterfront development.
Distributed Solar Development (DSD) designs, builds, owns and operates distributed solar and energy solutions for commercial, industrial and municipal customers. Incubated at GE’s Schenectady campus for seven years, DSD announced last month a long-term investment deal from asset management and renewables investment firm BlackRock, with continued GE backing, to support the team’s growth. Erik Schiemann, CEO said, “We are excited to move our new corporate headquarters to Mohawk Harbor. It gives our employees an office space with a beautiful, innovative design that matches the energy and culture of the DSD team and allows us to continue to expand as our business grows.”
Anthony Jasenski, Chairman of the Schenectady County Legislature, “We are so excited that DSD chose Schenectady County for its new headquarters. This is a fast-growing green energy company that will continue Schenectady’s leadership role in the energy sector.”
“This leader in solar power could have located anywhere and we are very pleased to see DSD move its corporate headquarters to Mohawk Harbor,” said Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy.
David Buicko, CEO of the Galesi Group developers of Mohawk Harbor said, “DSD is a great fit for the harbor. The harbor is a green project built on a former brownfield site and now we have a leading green energy company locating its main office here.”
Metroplex is providing a $90,000 grant toward project costs. The company plans to move to Mohawk Harbor this fall.”
