“Albert E. O’Neill, 78, of Route 7, died Sunday at Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County, Cobleskill, after a long illness.
Born in Summit, Mr. O’Neill was educated in a one-room school house on Wharton Hollow Road. He lived in the Schoharie County area most of his life. He resided in Binghamton from the mid-1970s until moving to Delanson last year.
During World War II, he served with the Army.
In the early 1970s, he operated the Sundown Diner in Esperance and also owned Goodies Snack Bar on Route 7 in Duanesburg. Many years ago, he was a laborer at the General Electric Co. in Schenectady.
His wife, Edith Leach O’Neill, died in 1987.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Miller Billetdoux of Delanson and Betty Williams of Central Bridge; a son, David H. O’Neill of Manchester, Vt.; a brother, Patrick O’Neill of Cobleskill; three sisters, Edna Reed of Schoharie, Ora Dibble of Middleburgh, and Margaret Szymanski of Scotia; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Langan Funeral Home, 21 N. Main St., Central Bridge.
Burial will be in Summit Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Central Bridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Quaker Street Fire Department.”
