“Irene R. Lewis Scranton, 64, Darby Hill Road, Quaker Street, a native of North Lawrence, died Thursday at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, after a short illness.
Arrangements were with the White-Van Buren Funeral Home Inc., Delanson. Burial was in Esperance Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Albany chapter of the Arthritis Foundation of Northeastern New York or to the Esperance-Sloansville United Methodist Church Siding Fund.
Survivors include her husband, William M.; two sons, Corky, Delanson, and Steve, Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters, Charyl Deady, Schenectady, and Karen Brownell, Delanson; 10 grandchildren, and a sister, Marie L. Selle, Rockledge, Fla.
Born in North Lawrence, daughter of Leon and Gertrude Lewis, she married William M. Scranton Jan. 13, 1946, in the Delanson Methodist Church.
Mrs. Scranton had lived in Quaker Street for the past 46 years. She was a clerk at the former Sealtest Dairy in Schenectady for many years, and later worked in the same capacity for Wolfe’s Market before retiring.
Mrs. Scranton was a member of the Esperance-Sloansville United Methodist Church. She was also a former member of the Quaker Street Fire Department Auxiliary.”
